Folks 👏

When I think about poetry that has affected me in one way or another, I think of Joji’s music. His songwriting is incredibly heartbreaking, and it never fails to make me shed a tear. Truly, if I ever need to have tears on command, I just think of Glimpse of Us and here I am, sniffling and crying about the past lover I never had.

It’s hard for me to choose a favorite out of all his music, but if I had to choose one right now for this blog post, it would be Run. This song is about a love that is deteriorating, and I especially enjoy how it encompasses the complexity of relationships since both of the people in Run, the speaker and the romantic partner, have some sort of blame placed on them for the downfall of the relationship and are both running away, not wanting to face the issue at hand.

Here’s my attempt at writing something like Joji.

It wasn’t my intention

To hurt you

It’s not like you’re blameless

In this too

Maybe it was wrong

Since the Beginning

We simply weren’t meant

For this to be working

Now that we’re here

We won’t meet eyes

Truly a twisted fate

A nightmare filled lullaby

We run away

We run away

All we do is run away

We never stay

We never stay

Today we can never stay

End

Hope you enjoyed your time at GargiTown. Come again next time.
